Indiana is Home to THE Best Children’s Museum in the Entire Country
In my line of work, I see a lot of these "Best of" and "Worst of" lists, and more times than not, Indiana is nowhere near the top. So you can understand why I was so excited to see Indiana not just near the top, but actually in the #1 spot of a recent list. And this wasn't some regional list either - nope, it was for the entire country!
It's Official - Indiana is Home to the BEST Children's Museum in America
Following a national vote hosted by USA Today 10Best, the Reader's Choice Award for 2025's Best Children's Museum goes to the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. If you've ever been to the museum, you're probably saying, "Yeah, that seems right" right about now.
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is the largest children's museum in the world - it offers around 482,950 square feet of fun-filled exhibits. Kids can snap a selfie with a T. rex, explore outer space through the lens of NASA’s Project Mercury program, and spend some time playing sports in the fantastic, interactive, outdoor park. ~10Best editors
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis has plenty of things to brag about - plenty of reasons why it deserves to be #1 in all the land...
- With nearly 483,000 square feet, it is the largest children's museum in the world.
- Considering its size, it makes sense that you would have five floors of fun. On those five floors, guests will find a collection of over 130,000 artifacts and exhibit items.
- The fun continues outside, too, where visitors can enjoy 7.5 acres of outdoor sports experiences.
- The museum hosts one of the nation's oldest continually running haunted houses. I remember going through it as a kid, and it scaring the CRAP out of me!
- Two words...FREE PARKING!
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is located at 3000 N. Meridian Street in Indianapolis. The museum has seasonal hours - right now through May 25, it is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10am-5pm.
