Hear Our Editor Freak Out Because We Make Her Choose Dawson’s Creek or Gilmore Girls

It’s all fun and games until you’re the one answering the questions. That’s how I feel about our weekly This or That feature. Yes, it is absolutely a silly game we like to play with our guests as a way to get to know them a little better – but you do feel a tiny bit of unexpected pressure when answering the questions. I didn’t realize that until I was put in the hot seat a few weeks ago. This week, the pressure is all on Ashley Sollars, our Digital Managing Editor here at Townsquare Media.

Ashley is familiar with This or That, and I bet she was expecting a bunch of easy questions, but that’s not how we roll. Right off the bat, she realized these questions presented her with some tough choices. I wish we had a video of Ashley, that way you could see the reaction – making those strange noises and actually turning red – it was hilarious!

So, what kind of questions could make a grown woman have a physical reaction like that? It really wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. We try to find things that are important to our guests and then make them choose just one. And here’s the thing, there is no right or wrong answer – it’s 100% your opinion, your choice – but when you’re the one answering, and you know your response is ‘going on the record’ so to speak, it does become a little tougher. In Ashley’s case, we talked about working at home vs. in the office; we talked about her pets and her preference when it comes to adult beverages. The question that seemed to elicit the biggest response had to do with Dawson’s Creek vs. Gilmore Girls. Who knew choosing just one would be so difficult? You gotta hear how this one played out.
