Show me an abandoned train depot and a set of directions and I'll show you a man on a mission.

I have actually passed the old Union Station Depot in Henderson a number of times as I've headed downtown, but I never saw it until this weekend.

There's some really wonderful history behind the old depot and that doesn't surprise me at all.

My grandfather and his brothers and their dad all worked the railroad way back in the day and I heard a lot of history about the different lines.

Always fascinating.

Just like this beautiful old relic.

What's really interesting is that there's a "For Lease" sign in front of it, which means some very creative individual or individuals could really turn it into something special.

Plus, thanks to the Henderson County Public Library, you'll see some very cool old photos and postcards of Union Station in its heyday.

Enjoy.
