Our friends at Albion Fellows Bacon Center shared some sad news over the weekend. Sadly, their beloved stray to shelter cat, Bob has passed away.

"Saying Goodbye to Bob, Our Beloved Shelter Cat
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Bob’s passing. For years, Bob wasn’t just our shelter cat—he was a source of comfort, joy, and healing for our staff, volunteers, and the survivors we serve. Bob’s gentle presence reminded us of the power of love and connection in even the hardest moments. He brought so much light to our shelter, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him."

What About Bob?

Bob became a part of the Albion Fellows Bacon Center around the time that COVID shut everything down. Now, in true alley-cat fashion, Bob wanted to come and go as he pleased. He would stop in for the occasional meal, and that turned into an amazing bond with the staff and residents at Albion.

More Than a Shelter Cat

Everyone at Albion loved Bob and made sure that he was taken care of. He became the spokescat for Albion as one of only three domestic violence shelters in Indiana that will accept pets with their owners.

Nearly 50% of domestic violence victims stay in abusive relationships because they are afraid to leave their pets behind.

Special thanks to Albion Board of Directors member, Dr. Kellie Hanson, and Oak Hill Animal Hospital for providing all of Bob's care.

Tributes to Bob

One of Bob's biggest adventures -That we know of -Was getting a spa day at Carver's Groomery. Our friends at Carvers' Groomery usually only welcome dogs, but they made an exception for Bob.

This one is devastating to share. Bob was so much more than a stray cat who wandered in during Covid. Our team at Albion Fellows Bacon Center is heartbroken to lose Bob and forever grateful for having known and loved him. He was our pet, our support cat, our friend, our mascot, our flare, our spunk. Thank you Bob, for all that you brought to our hearts and lives. We will miss you forever and love the next soul you send with as much care and compassion and whole-heartedness as the love we have shared with you. Rest in peace, precious Bob.
