Indiana high school marching bands are separated into either "Scholastic" class or "Open" class. The Scholastic class was created so that schools with smaller enrollment and/or resources could still be competitive on the the field. The Open class is, essential, open to everyone else. Both classes are also separated by size according to school enrollment. Below is the schedule that will determine the 2024 ISSMA champions.

  • October 5th - Scholastic Class Prelims
  • October 12th - Open Class Regionals
  • October 19th - Scholastic Class Finals
  • October 26th - Open Class Semi-State
  • November 9th - Open Class State Finals (at Lucas Oil Stadium)

There is nothing that you or I can do to influence the results of these upcoming competitions - so we wanted to present you with something that you absolutely can have an impact on. See the poll below for your chance to back your band and to vote for the best high school marching band in Southern Indiana.

*The bands are in alphabetical order, so it should be easy to find your favorite. There is also an option to write in any band that may have been omitted (please forgive me if that's the case). Most importantly - vote as often as you want. The poll will close on October 30th.

Most of this list is arranged in alphabetical order, except for the handful of celebrities born in our neck of the woods here in southern Indiana. I gotta give them a little preferential treatment.
