This was bound to happen. Remember during the Little League World Series, when Mid-Atlantic 13-year-old pitching sensation, Mo'ne Davis, said she wanted to play basketball at UConn someday? When word reached UConn head coach Geno Auriemma, he reached out to the girl to say good luck; a conversation that, according to Auriemma, lasted all of two minutes at Little League Headquarters.

Well, guess what? Another school in the American Athletic Conference filed a complaint with the conference about Auriemma's conversation with Davis. This is what's wrong with college sports today, at least as far as the rules go.

Under the rules, because Davis is not in high school, she cannot be considered a prospective college athlete, which means any school that talks to a non-high school athlete could be in a world of hurt, which is absurdly ridiculous.

All coach Auriemma did was call the girl and congratulate her on her success....how does that violate any rules???? He's not actively recruiting her for cryin' out loud...and even if she did wind up at UConn someday, so what?!

College athletics needs a big time overhaul, especially where NCAA oversight is concerned. I don't think Auriemma did anything wrong in any way, shape, or form, but we'll see. Good luck coach; you did the right thing by calling her.
