There is just something special about German Shepherds - I feel silly using words like "glorious" or "majestic," but sometimes "beautiful" and "gorgeous" don't seem to be enough.

Our Pet of the Week is a majestic (yeah, I said it) German Shepherd named MAX who is waiting to get adopted from It Takes a Village in Evansville.

MAX is a 4-year-old with a heart and personality that are as beautiful as his looks. MAX is an incredibly affectionate companion who thrives on one-on-one human interaction. Our friends at ITV tell us that MAX prefers to be the only recipient of that human love and attention, making him an ideal companion for those seeking a devoted friend.

Given his preference for a quieter environment, MAX would be most comfortable in a home with older kids who can understand and respect his need for space. MAX is a well-behaved and obedient dog - he is fully vaccinated, neutered, and ready to take home today!

If you are interested in adopting MAX, then please fill out an online adoption application today so you can arrange a meet-and-greet with him.

All of the animals at ITV are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and FIV/FeLV-tested.

If our pet of the week isn’t the right fit for your home, please visit It Takes a Village to see the other rescues that need to get fostered and adopted. And don't forget about their RENT A DOG Program. A quick fill form and copy of your photo ID will allow you time out with one of ITV's vetted shelter dogs. These day dates are great for the rescues - it gets them some exercise and new information to help us get them adopted. It’s been a big hit- so don’t miss out!
