There are only two NFL games left before we all sit down and watch one of the biggest sporting events of the year, the Super Bowl.  Even if you are not a huge fan of football you can still find something to enjoy about the game.  It could be the different festivities, the Half-Time Show, or the always much-anticipated commercials.

Two companies that always bring their A-game to the Super Bowl broadcast are Coca-Cola and Pepsi.  Every year they either have some of the funniest or most heartwarming commercials that air during the big game.  This year, however, neither company will air a commercial at any point during the broadcast.  I know, it’s shocking and honestly a little disappointing as well.

The main reason both soft drink icons are opting out of advertising this year is simply do to budgets and COVID-19.  Shocker.  Obviously, with there not being a whole lot of large gatherings, major sporting events, concerts, etc. you can imagine that both companies took a bit of a hit this year financially. So, according to Coke, they are making sure “we are investing in the right resources during these unprecedented times.”

It is unfortunate because, as I said, both of these companies usually deliver on Super Bowl Sunday.  Seeing this news also has me wondering if other companies will end up following suit.  I mean could this be the year we don’t get to see the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales too?  I sure hope not!

Just to make sure I do wend this article on a happy note, here are a couple of my favorite Superbowl commercials from Coke and Pepsi.
