Weather from Eyewitness News: Expect a quiet Friday, then rain moves in by daybreak Saturday, changing to some snow Saturday afternoon as temps fall thru the 30s on strong gusty winds before ending Saturday evening.
Pedestrians in downtown Evansville should be aware of a glass installation happening today. A crew is installing glass on the third floor of a building in the 300 block of Main street, near River Kitty Cat Cafe. They've scheduled the installation from 7 this morning until noon.
There will be no residential trash or recycling collections by Republic Services on Monday, January 21, 2019, because of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. Regular service will be on a one-day delayed schedule all next week. The Civic Center will also be closed on Monday.
Many businesses are stepping up to help out employees of the government, that are affected by the shutdown. Great Harvest in Evansville is offering free loaves of bread to the workers. It's called the Shutdown Shelf, and it's available while supplies last. Fazolis in Henderson is offering a free pizza baked spaghetti with purchase of a small drink. Now through January 31st Federal employees and their families can enjoy 60 minutes of jump time at Sky Zone Tuesday through Thursday 3-7pm!
The 2019 Fighter Application Form is LIVE for Guns & Hoses! Guns & Hoses XII is scheduled for April 13, 2019. They are also looking for a few new Hoses Fighters.
The need for blood is always high, so we're teaming up with the Red Cross to host the Townsquare Media Blood Drive Donorama on Friday, January 18th. We'll be live on location beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the end of the Drive at 6:00 p.m. with Red Cross staff ready to take your donation.
The day will also include 20 minute, "hands only," CPR classes at 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. giving you the chance to learn another way to save a life in the event you're ever in a situation that calls for it.
Free long-sleeve t-shirts will be given to donors while supplies last, and we'll have a few freebies to give you too.
