West Side Nut Club Fall Festival Using New Technology For Enhanced Safety
Every October, Evansville, Indiana, comes alive with the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival, a week-long celebration that brings over 200,000 people to historic Franklin Street. Celebrating its 103rd year, this massive festival offers free entertainment, carnival rides, over 137 food booths, amateur talent shows, and a grand parade to cap it all off. But this year, the festival isn't just about fun—it's also about keeping everyone safe with cutting-edge technology.
New Emergency Alert System to Keep Festival Goers Safe
The West Side Nut Club has teamed up with local safety organizations to introduce a brand-new emergency alert system. This system, integrated into the LED screens that display the famous Half-Pot totals, will provide real-time updates on weather alerts, emergencies, and other critical information.
These new LED panels, designed for better visibility—even in direct sunlight—will also display:
- First aid station and restroom locations
- Event schedules like Amateur Hour and band performances
- Emergency alerts and more
This advanced system ensures festival attendees can access vital information while enjoying the fun along Franklin Street.
Coordinated with Evansville's Top Safety Partners
A special shoutout goes to the Evansville Police Department, Fire Department, and Vanderburgh County’s Emergency Management team, who are all working together to keep the festival running smoothly. The National Weather Service will also be providing real-time weather alerts to help everyone stay informed.
