Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a volunteer service that provides a vital service for children in the court system who can't speak for themselves, and they're currently in need of more volunteers.

The children in need are often the victims of abuse and neglect, and according to Vanderburgh County CASA, "there are currently 408 on the waiting list that need a CASA volunteer."

If you or someone you know have interest in being that person these children can rely on to not only be their voice, but also work directly with CASA to "establish a safe living environment...by providing them with the tools and opportunities to thrive," register today for their upcoming New Volunteer Fall Class.

Deadline for registration is Friday, October 5th with classes scheduled to take place at the CASA office on the following Saturdays; October 20th, October 27th,  November 3rd, and November 10th from 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Prospective volunteers must pass background checks, provide references and complete a personal interview.

If you're interested, but not quite ready to make the commitment until you have more information, CASA will hold an Information Session on Monday, October 22 from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. The session will cover the role of a volunteer, as well as an opportunity to answer any questions you may have.

To set up an interview or to RSVP for the Informational Session, call the CASA Office at 812-424-5825.
