Emge's Deli, Pizza, and Ice Cream has a long history with downtown Evansville. Emge's has actually been a part of downtown Evansville since 1932!  While their location has changed a couple times since then, ever since I can remember they've been at the same location on the Main Street Walkway.  My dad has a classic car (it's a  1969 Mach 1 mustang if you're curious ;) ) and growing up I always spent time going to cruise ins and car shows with him. One of my favorites when I was younger was going to the First Friday's cruise in on the Main Street walkway.  We'd always get dinner on Main Street, and my staple was getting an Italian sub at Emge's.  Now I work downtown, and walk over to Emge's often to get a sandwich or salad for lunch.

The announcement was made in February that Emge's would be moving from downtown Evansville to the north side their new location is in the Northbrook shopping center down from Schnucks across from Old National at first Avenue and Buena Vista .  I'm glad to hear they'll still be a part of our community, but I'll miss being able to walk a block over for lunch (their food is worth the drive for me though)!

Here's what the Downtown Evansville Economic Improvement District said about Emge's final day:

They are relocating to 3848 N First Ave following their current property owner’s plans for something different at their Main Street location.
Help give our neighbors a strong send off this week by ordering breakfast and lunch at Emge’s. And visit them at their new location just a few minutes from Downtown. Thanks for all the memories and for being a vital part of Downtown for all these years, Emge’s!
Wishing Emge's much continued success in their new location.  They noted they'll be adding outdoor seating and a drive up window, I have no doubt they'll do great in their new location!
