Spend the Night at this Haunted Opera House in Kentucky
I am convinced that there are two types of people in this world. The first are the ones (like me) who cover their eyes during scary movies and still somehow mange to jump out of their seat (It's that music, I tell ya). The second are the ones who celebrate Halloween for months on end and are more interested in people's real encounters with ghosts than the special effects of Hollywood. My aunt and uncle fall into the latter as they use their PTO from work to schedule ghost hunts all over Indiana and Ohio.
Believe it or not, Kentucky is full of its own haunted gems. From Waverly Hills to Bob Mackay's, the Bluegrass state has a lot to offer anyone looking for a real ghost encounter. Number three on that list of haunted places is the Roh's Opera House.
The Rohs Opera House, built in 1871, is located in Cynthiana. It was expanded in 1941 and has become Kentucky's oldest running theater. People are still able to enjoy movies, plays, and variety shows at this historic location. The exterior of the theater is also home to the world's largest Walking Dead mural that attracts people from all over.
According to the Kentucky native paranormal investigator at iHuntGhosts.com, it is believed that the theater is haunted by three or more spirits. The most famous of these ghostly figures, known as "The Woman in White" has been captured by a number of paranormal investigators.
Video and audio evidence captured by iHuntGhosts during their investigations also showed footage of a man and two children that can be heard giggling throughout the hallways and auditorium. If that's not enough to give you the heebie jeebies, audio footage captured a mysterious whistle sound echoing throughout the theater and an unknown voice saying "Get out."
If you want to try to see this for yourself, Roh's Opera House offers overnight paranormal investigations on Fridays and Saturdays. Paranormal enthusiasts can experience the theater's haunted happenings for themselves.
If an overnight seems a bit too scary for your tastes, you can also attend one of the ghost walks held throughout the month of October. The ghost walks, which have brought in over 2,000 attendees in the last two years, allow people an inside look of the theater as well as hear stories of the strange encounters.
If you're brave enough, available reservations for the overnights and the ghost walk schedule can be found on their website.
