A public education campaign to raise awareness about the threat to local ash trees posed by the emerald ash borer will continue during a special Traveling City Hall at Eastland Mall on Saturday, June 25. The meeting will be held inside the mall concourse at the entrance to JC Penney starting at 11:00 a.m.

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will open the meeting with introductions of city department heads and elected officials. City Arborist Shawn Dickerson will give a presentation on protecting ash trees from the emerald ash borer. Dickerson said the emerald ash borer is a non-native invasive pest that is killing ash trees across America. The beetle has been detected in all Indiana counties, with the exception of Vanderburgh and Gibson counties.

Following the presentation, the mayor and department heads will be available to talk one-on-one with residents about any issue involving city government.

The July Traveling City Hall meeting will be at Central Library, 200 SE Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., on Wednesday, July 27, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
