Historically, January's weather has been a mixed bag in the Tri-State. We've seen everything from tornados to ice storms.

Remember the January 2009 Ice Storm?

If you lived in Indiana, Kentucky, or Illinois in the winter of 2009, you probably remember one of the worst ice storms of our lifetime. I was supposed to travel to Georgia during that week, and we didn't even get into Henderson before turning around.

Interestingly, only one inch of ice fell in Southern Indiana, and it caused over 200,000 homes and businesses to lose power.

January 7, 1989 Tornadoes

January is not considered a severe weather season, but you really have to be prepared for anything in the Tri-State. An F4 tornado crossed through parts of Wabash County, IL including the town of Allendale.

Monday, January 8 - Tuesday, January 9, 2024 Weather Update

It looks like we will start the second week of January with rain and wind. If you are still waiting for some snow, this weekend you could get your wish.

A potent storm system will bring widespread rain and windy conditions, mainly late Monday through Tuesday night. The rain may end as flurries or a dusting of snow late Tuesday night. Quiet weather will then return on Wednesday.
