Remembering Women in Music on International Women’s Day
Today we celebrate women all over the world on International Women's Day. Since, music has been around forever and unites us all across the universe, I want to also remember "Women in Music."
From the time my sister and I got our first radio, I remember listening to the Supreme's, Aretha Franklin, then along came Joni Mitchell, Linda Ronstadt, Carol King, Tina Turner, Bonnie Raitt, Heart, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Pink, and there's so many more!
Here's some of my album collection of women in music -some not in the best shape.
My daughter Jaclyn was given a beautiful singing voice which paved the way for her to enjoy show choir and school musicals and grabbing the leads in some of them. Her icons in music included Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Brandy, Jennifer Lopez, The Spice Girls, Monica, Selena, Shakira, Jewel. Celine Dion, Destiny's Child, and others.
Here's some of Jaclyn's CD collection.
There's so many women who have inspired and paved the way for today's great women in music. And for that, I want to say thank you, ladies. #WomeninMusic #InternationalWomensDay #WomenWhoInspire
