Registration Open for Annual Literacy Center Scrabble Smackdown
Dust off the dictionary, brush up on your multi-syllable words, and get ready to put those Scrabble skills to the test for great prizes at the annual Scrabble Smackdown to benefit The Literacy Center of Evansville on February 24th!
The tournament will take place at Ivy Tech on First Avenue in Evansville from 1 until 4 p.m. on the 24th, and is open to players of all ages and skill levels. The event is divided into different divisions including Pro and Semi-Pro, for the series Scrabble sharks, as well as Rebel for those of us (like me) who take things a little less seriously, throw the rules out the window, and get excited when they come up with three or four letter word.
Players can enter individually or in teams of two or three with an entry fee of $50 per team. A student division is also available for high school and college students for $30 per team.
All proceeds from the event will benefit The Literacy Center whose mission is to provide "reading improvement instruction for adults in the Tri-State area." For more info on The Literacy Center, and to register for the Scrabble Smackdown, visit their official website.
