Our adoptable pet of the week is FRENCHIE. This sweet boxer mix just came to It Takes a Village. FRENCHIE's owner had to surrender her because of having too many animals in their house.

FRENCHIE may be pregnant, and she is definitely undernourished. FRENCHIE needs a foster to give her some love right now while ITV provides vetting to get her healthier. Actually, fosters are needed for several animals right now. ITV has had so many rescues this week and they need homes.

Our Thursday Pet of the Week is sponsored by Diamonds on the Ruff Dog Salon & Retreat.

It Takes a Village also really needs bleach and Pinesol donations.

If you think you might be able to help FRENCHIE, go ahead and fill out an online adoption application or foster application - once you're approved, you can set up a meet and greet with him.

And as always, if our pet of the week isn’t the right fit for your home, please visit It Takes a Village to see the other rescues that need to get fostered and adopted. And don't forget about ITV's RENT A DOG Program. A quick fill form and copy of your photo ID will allow you time out with one of ITV's vetted shelter dogs. These day dates are great for the rescues - it gets them some exercise and new information to help us get them adopted. It’s been a big hit- so don’t miss out!

All of the animals at ITV are examined by a veterinarian, given age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and FIV/FeLV-tested.

ITV is open during regular hours. However, they have received so much support and interest over shut down, that they are still working diligently to review all correspondences. They appreciate everyone’s patience as they find the best matches for their rescues.

LOOK: Here Are 30 Foods That Are Poisonous to Dogs

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.

Even with all of these resources, however, the best cure for food poisoning is preventing it in the first place. To give you an idea of what human foods can be dangerous, Stacker has put together a slideshow of 30 common foods to avoid. Take a look to see if there are any that surprise you.

LOOK: Stunning animal photos from around the world

From grazing Tibetan antelope to migrating monarch butterflies, these 50 photos of wildlife around the world capture the staggering grace of the animal kingdom. The forthcoming gallery runs sequentially from air to land to water, and focuses on birds, land mammals, aquatic life, and insects as they work in pairs or groups, or sometimes all on their own.
