Good grief. Graduation time fast approaches already. Wow. At times, the past year feels like it's flown by. At other times, it feels like it has just DRAGGED.

But, no, here we are again, facing the annual rite of passage that I remember like it was yesterday...and it was 37 YEARS AGO!

You know, I ought not to write that. That way I won't have to look at it.

I have no idea where my read Daviess County High School tassel with the "'84" on it is, but my diploma is in a tote in my closet. I ran across it while moving.

But yes, it doesn't seem like that long ago that I was lining up outside of the Sportscenter on a Thursday evening in late May waiting to take that next step. And I followed the evening up with something I NEVER did in high school...I went to a party out in the country.

No, I was not a party animal in high school. Not hardly. But it was graduation night and I felt like I should. I was there 20 minutes.

And speaking of graduation night, Owensboro High School students, your date is set:

Congratulations to all the graduates. I tip my mortarboard to each and every one of you for finishing high school in, arguably, the most bizarre period in recent history. And certainly in yours.

We wish you all the best.
