The annual Christmas on North Main Parade is set to officially kick off the holiday season in Evansville on Sunday, November 24th, and it's shaping up to be the biggest yet.

During a press conference Thursday at Bosse Field, Parade Director, Gail Knight Williams said the parade will have an estimated "100 entries with more than 200 units, and more than 1,000 individuals participating." Leslie Morgan and I will also be returning as the parade's emcees.

Williams added that Santa's Workshop will once again be a part of the pre-parade festivities, and will be located at SWIRCA at 16 West Virginia Street. The Workshop runs from Noon until 2:00 p.m. and will feature Santa himself, along with clowns, arts, crafts, entertainment, a hot cocoa bar, and cookies for the kids. The Workshop is free to be a part of, and all are welcome, however Williams stressed any and all kids must be accompanied by an adult, no dropping them off and coming to get them later.

As in year's past, this year's parade will end at Garvin Park with a special sneak preview of what the Fantasy of Lights has in store for visitors. Pam Kirk with the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center (the beneficiary of the proceeds) was also on hand at Thursday's press conference to share a few tidbits of information about this year's display, including the addition of a few new pieces visitors will get to enjoy. Check out Pam's complete statement in the video below.
