Mater Dei's 10-7 win over Central last week was big for a number of reasons. It handed the Bears their second loss of what has been a strong season, and it was the first time in four years the Wildcats were able to get the better of them. The impressive victory not only got noticed here in the Evansville area, but also up north in Indianapolis where it helped earn long-time coach, Mike Goebel the honor of being the Indianapolis Colts' Coach of the Week.

Owner Jim Irsay made the announcement on Twitter late Thursday afternoon.

The honor comes with more than just being recognized in a tweet by the team's owner. Coach Goebel, like previous Coach of the Week honorees, will also get the opportunity to visit a Colts practice, be recognized on the field during an upcoming Colts home game at Lucas Oil Stadium, and will receive a check for $2,000 from the Colts and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for the Mater Dei's football program.

Congratulations Coach! And best of luck against your west side rival, the Reitz Panther's, this week. With all due respect to the Panthers, I am a Mater Dei graduate, so it goes without saying (but I will anyway), I'm pulling for the Wildcats all the way.
