Popular Italian Restaurant Closing Newburgh Location After 10 Years
It’s the end of an era for a well-loved Italian favorite in Newburgh. After nearly 10 years of dishing out comfort food and community connection, Little Angelo’s has officially closed its doors as of June 29. The announcement came via the restaurant’s Facebook page, and was confirmed in detail by the local food community group Fingers, Fork, Knife & Spoon Evansville.
But there’s good news, too — the story isn’t over just yet.
Why the Sudden Closure?
The closure wasn’t a snap decision. According to the restaurant’s owners, it was a mix of circumstances that led to the final choice, a "perfect storm," as one of them described it.
A shortage of staff made day-to-day operations increasingly difficult. At the same time, both owners were ready to focus on separate business paths. With the building lease coming up, the timing felt right to step away from the shared venture.
Angelo, one of the original partners, will continue to focus on his longtime restaurant, Angelo’s on Main Street in Downtown Evansville, which he's proudly operated since 1992. Meanwhile, co-owner Hamzeh is preparing to launch a brand-new restaurant concept in the same Newburgh space. That project is currently under wraps, but is expected to feature new flavors and a few fan favorites from the Little Angelo’s menu.

Gift Cards Still Honored Downtown
If you’ve got a Little Angelo’s gift certificate tucked in your wallet or lost at the bottom of your purse, don’t worry. All gift cards from the Newburgh location will be fully honored at the original Angelo’s at 305 Main Street in Downtown Evansville.
The owners made a point to handle this closure with transparency and respect — something that isn’t always the case in the restaurant industry. According to Angelo, all staff members were made aware of the closure a month in advance, allowing them time to prepare and transition.

Community Shares Its Love
Fans of the restaurant took to social media to express their gratitude and sadness.
“We will miss Little Angelo's! We eat in, carry out, and sometimes have delivery. Glad to see the head chef will still be in charge. I’m sure the food will be delicious, whatever the new menu will be!” – Lisa Legate Daniels
“Looking forward to the new changes, but will miss Little Angelo’s as it has been for the last ten years. Good luck.” – Vicki Roberts Steckler
The heartfelt messages reflect the loyalty and affection the community felt for this cozy, family-friendly spot.

What’s Next?
The Little Angelo’s location will soon be undergoing renovations as it prepares for its next culinary chapter. While the name and concept may change, the space will continue to serve the community, and with the same talented head chef in the kitchen, longtime guests can expect some familiar flavors to stick around.
In the meantime, diners are encouraged to visit Angelo’s on Main for the same quality and care they’ve come to love.
