Last year, my friend Jordan Roos asked me "Hey, have you heard of Bilmuri?" Pronounced Bill Murray like the actor, so my response was, "Of course, I know who Bill Murray is." He explained who he was really talking about and showed me a Bilmuri music video. Instant fan!

Not THAT Bill Murray

Bilmuri is definitely a play on the actor's name, but it is actually the name of a band. Well, a singer-songwriter and musician named Johnny Franck. If you were a "scene kid" in the early 2000s you may remember his original metalcore band Attack Attack! From Westerville, Ohio. Eighteen years later he's opening for huge groups like Sleep Token and playing one of the biggest music festivals in the world.

Bilmuri to Perform at Bonnaroo 2025

They were recently added to the 2025 Bonnaroo line-up that was released yesterday. I was reminded of how awesome and interesting the music is and had to share it with you. An alternative mix of metal, hardcore, pop, and country.

Genre-Mixing Jams You'll Love

He's produced fourteen albums since first starting in 2016, so he's got quite the discography. If you like variety, you'll love his sound. Ranging from leg-kicking pop-punk jams, and slow shoe-gazey moments, to full-on chugging metal goodness.

Song Titles That Make You Say "Hmm" and "HAHA"

His album and song names are just as random, quirky, and hilarious as his music videos. KEEPINITBEEFY, THICC THICCLY, doritoslocostacos, and spacesbetweenlettersarecool to name a few.

AMERICAN MOTOR SPORTS, Baby!

His most recent album, AMERICAN MOTOR SPORTS has more of a country influence than the others. Mitchell Tenpenny collaborated with him on a song called ALL GAS, and I'm kinda obsessed with it. Here's the official lyric video.

EMPTYHANDED ft. Dylan Marlowe

Dylan Marlowe is one of the most popular up-and-coming country artists right now. He joined Bilmuri for a duet titled EMPTYHANDED. In true Bilmuri fashion, the music video is the fellas taking turns mowing a friend's lawn.

THE END

I think you can really hear the unique nature of his music in this next song. The higher riff in the background that sounds a little like a mandolin starts it out and then the driving drums kick in. Toward the end, you hear those sweet noodly metalcore guitars and his vocals sound like straight-up Justin Bieber in a couple of parts.

That is supposedly his highest-budget video. Hilarious! He seems like a total blast. I bet his live shows are AWESOME.

2016 CAVALIERS (Ohio) FT. KNOX

OK, just one more song. I think this is one of his most "country" sounding tracks. He's written a top 40 bop that would play on WBKR and added his pizazz with the drums, guitar, and...is that a lil' sax action I hear?
