Rumor Has It Jersey Mike’s Is Looking to Locate in Owensboro KY
It's been a while since Owensboro got any kind of news about a national chain coming to town for the first time. And this "news" isn't really news at all, but it has gotten people's attention.
First, let me tell you that when I searched "Jersey Mike's coming to Owensboro," this was one of the first links I saw:
And where it says "Show results with: Owensboro"? No dice. If you click that link, you'll learn that the Jersey Mike's locations that are "coming soon" to Kentucky are in Louisville, Henderson, Richmond, and Paducah. Meanwhile, poor Owensboro is over here feeling like it didn't get picked for kickball.
STILL, this Facebook post has some tongues wagging and wishful thinkers crossing their fingers.
So yes, we're going on fourth-hand information regarding this possibility, but I don't know why it CAN'T be true. And then there's this exchange between Kyle Bruner and the chain itself:
That's kind of provocative, don't you think? It is also not a confirmation. Come on, Danny DeVito, make it happen.
No, I realize the celebrity spokesperson has no pull in these matters, but the company's president does. Forbes asked him about franchises six years ago, and here's what he said:
50% of our franchisees own one store and 70% of new franchise locations came from existing franchisees. We have some multi-unit franchisees but want to be sure a franchise grows from a strong foundation.
Okay, got it. So here's my stance: If Paducah, Richmond, and Henderson can have a Jersey Mike's--those cities are all smaller than Owensboro--I think we can have one here. Maybe, based on that conversation between Kyle Bruner and Jersey Mike's, we may get our wish.
