I Ate at Owensboro’s New Wonder Whip Location and It’s a Wonder
Wonderburger fans, rejoice! A second Wonder Whip location will soon be officially open in Owensboro! I got an invitation to a sneak preview earlier today.
I grew up on the east side of Daviess County. I grew up in Thruston to be exact. So, I have driven by the Wonder Whip location on U.S. 60 East an infinite amount of times during my existence. In fact, Wonder Whip was nearly a daily stop for me when I was a junior and senior at Daviess County High School. I drove to school and passed by Wonder Whip each afternoon on the way home. I routinely stopped in there for a Wonderburger and a chocolate shake.
Seth Woodward, the current owner of Wonder Whip, decided recently that it was time to expand. That Wonder Whip location on the east side of town has been a staple there for over 70 years.

It now has a brand new companion right in the heart of Owensboro.
On Sunday, I got the chance to visit the brand new Wonder Whip location for a 'sneak preview' and staff training day. Naturally, I ordered my favorite: a Wonderburger with lettuce and tomato, an order of onion rings, and a chocolate shake!
I also took some photos of the new location. I am obsessed with the design.
The new Wonder Whip has a completely retro look. It's a throwback to the diners from the 50s, but with new, modern twists and conveniences. For example, in addition to Wonder Whip's traditional outdoor picnic table seating, there is additional seating upstairs that's inspired! I am not sure there's a better dining view in the heart of the city.
I am also in love with the new bathroom. A trip inside is a trip down memory lane. The walls are lined with rich and fascinating Wonder Whip history.
I even noticed my buddy Marty Brown on the wall!
As soon as I saw his photo, I sent Marty a pic. I texted him, "You're in the bathroom at the new Wonder Whip!"
Marty wrote back, "OMG! I've made it. I love Wonder Whip!"
He's not alone. We all love Wonder Whip and now Owensboro's got a second one on the menu.
