Liv Taylor’s Broadway Dream Comes True In Oklahoma
An inspiring and fun story from Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plains.
Liv Taylor wasn't quite sure what was happening the day Dr. Haygood came to class and told everyone in Oklahoma State University's concert chorale that he had a surprise for them. The suggestion of a surprise was certainly exciting. However, he also informed the class they would each have to sign an NDA (a non-disclosure agreement) before he could tell them what it was. At this point, everyone's interest was certainly piqued, but I doubt anyone in the class was expecting this news.
Dr. Haygood informed the chorale that Hugh Jackman was coming to The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts on campus and they would be joining him onstage to sing "Oklahoma." How fitting is that? You know the old saying, "When in Rome?" Well, when in Oklahoma, a two-time Tony Award-winning Broadway star has to sing "Oklahoma."
And, he did! During the song, Liv found herself standing (and singing) right next to him!

Though she lives in Stillwater and attends Oklahoma State, Liv has ties to southern Indiana and western Kentucky. Her father, Scott Taylor, lives in Newburgh, Indiana and works for Daviess County Public Schools here in Kentucky. He proudly shared that photo on social media and the caption- Liv singing with Hugh Jackman.
For Liv, it was actually a full circle moment. She was in a school production of Oklahoma when she was in the 8th grade. Less than ten years later, she was on stage with a Hollywood and Broadway legend performing its title song again.
Liv gives a huge shout out to Jackman's Landing Fan Group! The popular Hugh Jackman Instagram page was on hand for the show and captured the video above. The moment is certainly one she won't forget. Liv is a Music Education Major at Oklahoma State and, for some wildly musical moments on a magical night, she got to learn from one of the best!
