2025 Timetable Released for Evansville I-69/Ohio River Crossing Project
These days, when I visit Evansville, I try to use one of the "old ways." That's how I refer to either U.S. 60 West--I live in Owensboro--and Indiana State Road 66. But taking the Indiana side is the only route on which I will not encounter work on the Interstate 69 project.
Interstate 69 Project Update
Granted, what the crews working on I-69 ORX Section 1 are doing on U.S. 60 just east of Henderson pales in comparison to the work being done at U.S. 41 between the Audubon Parkway western terminus and the strip. The latter, as many of us know, has necessitated the rerouting of that four-lane as construction on the connector to 60 continues. Here's an aerial view of what you've encountered on that stretch heading into or away from Henderson:
I don't know about you, but this answers a lot of questions I've had about U.S. 60 and its connection to the project.
U.S. 41/KY 351 Roundabouts
Meanwhile back to the west side multiple roundabouts under construction and in various stages of completion at the intersection of 41 and KY 351.
Interstate 69 - Ohio River Crossing Timetable
As work continues, the ORX Project is looking ahead to the rest of 2025 and has shared a timetable of its goals for the year:
The Interstate 69 Project in Stages
The project is broken down into three sections:
Section 1 is Kentucky; section 2 is the Ohio River Bridge; and section 3 is Indiana, ground for which was broken in October 2024.
In Kentucky--the Section 1 phase of the project--here's what to expect in 2025:
Work began on ORX 69 in the summer of 2022. COMPLETION of the entire Interstate 69 project is expected by the end of 2026.
