Here’s What the Home Alone House in Chicago, IL Looks Like Now
The gorgeous and iconic home from the beloved Holiday classic was on the market earlier this year. It's been updated a ton since it was first built, and other than a few recognizable features, the house's interior looks VERY different from how it was styled for the movie. I wonder if the scary furnace is still in the basement?
Home Alone is one of my family's favorite movies. We even dressed up as Kevin and the Wet Bandits for Halloween one year. The McCallister house was really a character in itself in the story of a creative kiddo protecting his property. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly several years ago, director John Hughes said,
"We needed to cast a house that would work for the stunts and also a house that was visually appealing and, if this makes sense, warm and menacing at the same time. It’s the kind of house if you were a kid it would be fun to be left home alone."

This stately five-bedroom, six-bathroom piece of American pop culture was built in 1921. With Georgian-style architecture, it was majorly updated in 2018. Here are some pictures of what it looks like now and the incredible features it boasts. It has certainly changed a lot!

It is listed for only $5.25 million and is currently pending last I checked. Here's the listing for more photos and information. If that is out of your budget, but you love Home Alone as much as I do, Lego makes a really awesome set so you can build your own "Silver Tuna." It's $299.99 and comes with five mini-figures to act out the movie.
