Hayley Payne Turns Heartbreak Into Art With Cheatin’ Songs
As the old saying goes, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Well, there's a modern-day version of that popular adage that goes a little something like this. Hell hath no fury like a young singer-songwriter scorned. The proof? Hayley Payne. A Nashville man's confession of infidelity has led to her brand new album release.
Hayley, who's originally from Owensboro, Kentucky, now lives in Nashville. A year ago- last August- she released a love song that she wrote for her then-boyfriend (the man mentioned above). They had been dating for a over a year and Hayley thought it was time to honor their relationship with an original song about it. So, she posted a video to TikTok and, almost instantly, received "the dreaded 'HEY, GIRL' DM." Uh oh. Another woman wrote to Hayley and informed her that the boyfriend cheated on her three months earlier in Destin, Florida. Yep! The boyfriend was in Destin at that particular time for a bachelor party.
Hayley, doing what any woman would do, confronted her man. The boyfriend, doing what most men would do, lied. That lie was swiftly counteracted by the woman who sent the DM to Hayley. This time, she sent Hayley some video proof. Needless to say, Hayley ended her relationship and hasn't spoken to her ex since. However, she's been thinking about him and she's gotten some musical revenge.

Fast forward to 2025. Hayley's been hard at work writing. She says, "I've written some of my favorite songs I have ever written." Those songs are featured on her brand new album called cheatin' songs. It's her first "full project since moving to Nashville."
As Hayley explains, "It shows the whole journey I went through- from the shock, grief, and heartbreak to finding the humor in the situation and ultimately seeing it was the best thing that ever happened to me." Hayley says the journey gave her three positive souvenirs and takeaways. "#1- I’m free of that man. #2- The music that I got out of it. #3. The woman I have become because of it.
To celebrate the debut of Cheatin' Songs, Hayley's throwing an album release party in Nashville tonight at Analog!
As I said, "Hell hath no fury . . ."
