Is there any place more beautiful than Kentucky in the fall? As summer ends and we start to see leaves change and pile on the ground, we can pull those flannels out of the closet, freshen up scarves and boots, and get ready to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Logan County in Southwestern, Kentucky celebrates the turning of seasons by inviting folks countywide to participate in the annual Hometown Hay Bale Trail. For nine years now, the community and visitors alike have enjoyed the creativity of those who paint, decorate, and even sculpt hay bales into pop culture icons, movie characters, giant ears of corn, and more!

Dee Dee Brown from the Logan County Tourism Commission told me that so far there is an even number of businesses and homes for the Hay Bale Trail this year. She's hoping that visitors will have lots of fun finding them all. "I would love to invite everyone to come out and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Logan County countryside while viewing our 9th year of creative haybale designs. We invite the public to take lots of selfies with the haybales and share them on social media to help advertise this month-long annual event."

The Hay Bale Trail officially begins on October 1st and so does the voting for the best bale! All photos will be available on the Logan County Facebook page, but there's nothing like seeing these awesome creations in public. It's only about an hour from Owensboro, so it would make a perfect day or weekend trip.
