Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, Kentucky just announced plans for a brand new community initiative. It's called 'Glenn's Give & Go' and the program will assist a different nonprofit monthly.

The history of Glenn Funeral Home dates back to 1903. That's when Glenn Taylor's great-grandfather created the undertaking department at the Owensboro Livery Service. Fast forward a century-plus and Glenn Funeral Home is arguably Daviess County's leading funeral home. Today, a fifth generation of Taylors is represented and remain "committed to providing exceptional service" for friends and neighbors here in western Kentucky.

Starting in November, that exceptional service will be extended to a variety of local nonprofit agencies. Here's how Glenn's Give & Go will work. Each month, the funeral home staff will designate a community organization that will benefit. Then, Glenn Funeral Home will serve as a drive-thru and drop-off location for that nonprofit.

For instance, in November, Glenn's Give & Go will support the Daviess County Animal Shelter.

In December, it will rally the troops for Beverly's Hearty Slice. According to Marketing Project Manager Justin Moseley, "People can do drive-thru donations on a certain day each month, but donations can always be brought inside the funeral home and donated for several days AFTER the drive-thru donation day."

Here at WBKR, we are supporting the cause and joining the effort. On Wednesday, November 6th, we'll be broadcasting live from Glenn Funeral Home from 10am to 2pm as they collect for the Daviess County Animal Shelter. According to the official release, "simply pull up to the designated collection area, and an attendant will collect your donations without you having to leave your vehicle."

If you cannot attend that day, you can drop off your donations inside Glenn Funeral Home during regular business hours through Monday, November 11th. Here's a list of needed items:

• Used towels
• Small blankets
• Dog treats
• Dog rawhide
• Small cat and dog beds
• Purina Dog Chow
• Canned kitten food
• Dry kitten food
• Dawn dish detergent
• Laundry detergent
• Fabric softener

And, looking ahead, Glenn Funeral Home has already designated the charity it will help in the month of December. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, December 4th. That's when they will be collecting for Beverly's Hearty Slice.
