Like so many of you, I have followed the saga of the escaped pet zebra in Middle Tennessee. Not even a whole day after moving to his new home, Ed was on the run.

His owner purchased him from a breeder in Texas and brought him back to Rutherford County, where it is perfectly legal to keep the exotic animal as a pet. Did you know you can also own a giraffe or a camel in Tennessee? It's just probably a good idea to double and triple-check your fence situation.

I don't know how the zebra escaped in the first place, but once he broke loose, he was spotted running along I-24, later trotting around a neighborhood, and finally walking through a field in Christiana, TN. He honestly seemed to be having the time of his life, just as free as a bird.

While the whole community was concerned for his safety and out looking for him on foot and with drones in the air, the internet was falling in love. Memes, videos, and even songs were written about this new local legend. That's how he got the name, "Ed." Someone seemingly used AI to make a song and music video about Where These Stripes Have Been. Too funny!

Who really knows what Ed has been up to, but after over a week of tracking, searching, and coaxing, he was finally captured safely.

His walk of shame? Totally ridiculous. They scooped his behind up in a net and flew him through the air for everyone to see. However, just look at Ed's face. Not a single ounce of regret.

Shout out to everyone involved in locating Ed and now caring for him as he recovers from the whole ordeal. Although he does have a look on his face that says, "I did that and I'll do it again," I'm sure he is exhausted and starving. Maybe he should enjoy his newfound fame with a nap, a snack, and maybe some meet & greets.
