Two-Time Oscar Winner Dustin Hoffman Back in Kentucky for New Movie
Two years ago, the holiday and post-holiday season got an unexpected boost of excitement when director and Oscar-nominated actor Ethan Hawke began making frequent appearances on the streets of Shelbyville and Louisville.
Movies Filmed in Kentucky
That's what happens when a Hollywood filmmaker wants a certain look for his movie that can only be found here in the Commonwealth. That film, released in 2024 to middling reviews, was Wildcat, the story of author Flannery O'Connor. Hawke's daughter (with Uma Thurman), Maya Hawke, played O'Connor in the movie.
While other Tinseltown folk have found perfect Kentucky settings in the intervening 24 months, we haven't really seen the HUGE names...until now. Under what I'm calling a veil of secrecy--this has been news to me until today--filming in Louisville has just wrapped on The Revisionist starring two-time Oscar winner Dustin Hoffman.
Dustin Hoffman Filming in Kentucky
This marks Hoffman's cinematic return to the Bluegrass State; he and Tom Cruise made the trip back in 1988 to shoot scenes for Rain Man, that year's Best Picture champ and the film that won Hoffman his second Academy Award.
Here's how Deadline describes the new drama:
Elise, a successful novelist, does what so many writers do: she manipulates and transforms the people in her life into the characters she needs for her story. As she blurs the line between fiction and reality, her world descends into secrets, lies, and outright betrayal. The project is an exploration of the psychological lengths to which a writer will go to achieve their art.
This is the 87-year-old Hoffman's third film in short order. He was a co-star in Francis Ford Coppola's holiday release Megalopolis and recently finished filming a thriller called Tuner.
A release date for The Revisionist has yet to be announced.
