Don’t Ever Run Over Snowmen As One KY Driver Could Tell You
The second winter storm of 2025 has arrived, and it's just the second weekend of the year. I'm not sure if that bodes well, but it is what is. And what this storm is is a snowstorm that has given us ample opportunity to build great snowmen.
Beware of Snowmen?
I love building a snowman, regardless of the size, but I'm not so inconsiderate that I would do what SOMEONE did several years ago. I was heading home from visiting my sister, and I was driving down Booth Avenue in Owensboro. We'd been hit hard, and it was still snowing a bit. I saw a snowman off in the distance, and as I got closer, I realized that it had been built IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. Not funny. Not even close. Swerving in weather like that, as you can imagine, is a risky proposition. Fortunately, I had enough lead time to avoid calamity.
In other news, some folks build snowmen exactly where they should--in their yards, away from traffic. But that still didn't stop some lunkhead from getting mad enough, a few years ago, to try to plow into one built at the head of a northern Kentucky driveway. As you'll see, he made a huge mistake:
Don't Run Over Snowmen...You've Been Warned
I like the idea of using a big tree stump as a frame for a snowman. I like the idea of a frame for a snowman, period. I've built them in the past only to watch them topple over because I didn't do it right or because the snow didn't take long to get too soft.
But that's almost beside the point. Don't be THAT person who gets so miffed that you'd drive your vehicle into someone's snowman. You could end up with a tidy little karmic payback.
