Local Pizza Lovers Share Top Spots For The ‘Cheesiest’ Slice In Evansville

If you're a pizza lover in southern Indiana, you're going to love this. And, look! I understand. There are a number of polls conducted throughout the year that ask "Who has the best pizza in the Tristate?" and nearly every one who chimes in has a different answer.

However, EJ Simmons- who lives in Henderson, KY- recently conducted an informal pizza poll with a twist. He shared this piping hot, tasty, and specific question on his Facebook page.

Like many of EJ's friends, I kept a close eye on the responses. I love pizza. Honestly, I would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also love pizza with a lot of cheese on it. So, I followed the answers to EJ's question as they rolled in.

While there were a variety of restaurants mentioned in the thread, two pizza places rose above the rest. EJ specifically asked for 'best and cheesiest' pizza in Evansville and it looks like his friends and fellow foodies crowned two standouts.

The first?

Deerhead- Sidewalk Cafe & Bar. That answer was first given by Collin MacQuarrie, who knows the restaurant business inside out. Collin and his family own Colby's and Colby's Deli in Owensboro, Kentucky- just about thirty minutes south of Evansville. Collin actually provided two answers. He said, "Deerhead for thin crust. Pangea for Detroit/regular." We'll get to Pangea in a second.

Zakia Lane, who lives in Evansville, chimed in immediately and echoed Collin's affinity for Deerhead. She said, "This is my joint right here. So good and the sauce is HITTIN!"

Mike Duffy said the same thing! He answered "Deerhead!"

Lidia Opal Luke agreed as well. EJ asked for extra cheese and apparently Deerhead delivers it. Lidia says even their Greek salad has "tons of Feta cheese on it." As for their pizzas and stroms, Lidia says they are 'great!'

In addition to Deerhead, another pizza place got a lot of love from locals. Collin, in his answer, also mentioned Pangea. Sharon Edwards Whitledge shared that sentiment. She quickly answered Pangea Kitchen! Allah Canady-Simmons made no bones about it either. She says Pangea is "the best!"

While I haven't personally eaten at Deerhead, I can vouch for Pangea Kitchen and Pangea Pizzeria. Pangea Kitchen is located at 111 South Green River Road.

The Pizzeria (where I have eaten) is located in downtown Evansville at 401 Northwest 2nd Street, Suite A.

The pizzeria is near my Evansville office. It's within walking distance and worth the steps. Trust me!
