My mind races this time of year. Haunted houses and corn mazes are everywhere you look, and there are only so many free days. What's a Spooky Season lover to do?

Well, when presented with such a dilemma, you just have to make the hard choices. "If I do this, then I can't do that. Oh well. Such is life." There's the conversation you'll have in your head. And then, when everything is laid before you, you'll probably want to go be terrified by Annabelle. The iconic nightmare maker (yes, I believe she has achieved icon status in a relatively short period of time), will be on display at ScareFest in Lexington from October 17th through October 19th.

Ed and Lorraine Warren

I first saw Lorraine Warren on the 2000s reality series Paranormal State, and her conviction was palpable and undeniable. And that makes sense considering what was in her charge.

The Conjuring was released in 2013 and launched a wildly popular franchise about the Warrens' work. Annabelle, the franchise's most valuable asset, debuted in that pretty solid thriller and then became the focal point for subsequent editions of the film series.

The Real Annabelle

The doll used in the films is very creepy, but it bears no resemblance to the real Annabelle, which is actually a Raggedy Ann doll that was purchased in 1970 and kept locked away in the Warrens' museum in Connecticut, away from the public. It's housed there to this day, except for when it's removed and put on display at events like ScareFest.

Some won't go near it, presumably after hearing tales that allege Annabelle could be responsible for myriad bizarre happenings. Strange occurrences on the doll's 2025 Devils on the Run Tour have also been attributed to this monstrous plaything. That would explain some of the comments on this post.

Aerial Utley - "No keep her where she's at Kentucky been through enough."

Shawn Ward - "I think they should burn the doll for safety reasons so that no one else will get a hold of it again."

Paul Baber - "Playing with fire. I would go nowhere near that thing."

Well, I know three people who won't be at ScareFest. Keep reading those comments and you'll find more. But I also think this level of legitimate fear could be why the event, which will also feature cast members from some of your favorite horror movies and TV series (Robert Englund, who played Freddy Krueger, will be a highlight), will break the bank.
