BARN CATS CAN BECOME LIKE FAMILY

Growing up on 100 acres in Northern Michigan, we had many barn cats. While they were primarily working cats, we always brought them indoors occasionally to keep them semi-social and prevent them from becoming too feral. Even though they had a job to do, we treated them like family. These cats can make wonderful, loyal companions while helping with rodent control, and they can be a great addition to any home!

HOW TO ADOPT SHELTER OUTDOOR CATS

The Daviess County Animal Shelter takes in thousands of animals every year. While some are reunited with their owners and others find new homes, many remain without a place to call their own. This is why it’s so important to help these animals find new families.

If you’re interested in adopting a cat, stop by the shelter! They have a variety of outdoor/barn cats of all ages, sizes, and colors waiting for a new home. Be sure to bring a crate to transport or you can purchase a cardboard carrier for $5 from the shelter. Can you help give these cats a second chance before it's too late?
