Everything You Need to Know About the 2024 YMCA Evansville Half Marathon, Kids Marathon, and 5-Miler Race
For over 20 years, runners have competed in the YMCA Evansville Half Marathon. The fundraising event promotes health and well-being in the Evansville community and helps finance and build the YMCA's youth programs in Southwest Indiana. Since its inception, the race has had over 32,000 participants and raised $1.6 million dollars for youth programs. In 2023, 15,408 youths in the Evansville area participated in YMCA programming

The Course
The 13.1 course goes through neighborhoods and parks including Garvin Park, past historic Bossee Field, and ends in Downtown Evansville.

Finishers receive a custom medal and the feeling that comes along with accomplishing such a huge task.
How Do You Prepare for the Evansville Half Marathon?
The YMCA offers training programs called Jump Start and Team 13.
JUMP START
- This seven-week program is designed for beginners interested in training for the goal of completing a 5K or the Evansville Half Marathon and needing assistance increasing mileage to prepare for the Team 13 program.
- FREE to Y members and non-members
- Registration includes in-person training sessions, routes, encouragement, and camaraderie!
- Private Facebook group to provide support for those who are training on their own
- Provide a community to support your goals, answer your questions and encourage you!
- Jump Start Open House: Tuesday, April 30th at the Ascension St. Vincent YMCA (516 Court St) from 5:30-6:30pm
- First Day of Training: Tuesday, May 7th at Wesselman Park (551 N Boeke Ave) at 5:30pm

TEAM 13
Thousands of people have worked with volunteer trainers in this program to train for and complete the Evansville Half Marathon. This training is designed to help individuals at all fitness levels train for the half marathon. This program meets twice a week for 13 weeks – all paces and experience levels are welcome.
- $30 per participant
- Registration is available at training locations for the first three weeks
- Registration includes a t-shirt for the first 500 participants, in-person training sessions with scheduled mileage and locations, door prizes, access to email updates, and a special race bib!
- Private Facebook group to provide support for those who are training on their own
- Provide a community to support your goals, answer your questions and encourage you!
- All trainings take place on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 pm and Saturdays at 7 am
- If you cannot make every training, you are encouraged to train on your own!
- Team 13 Open House: Thursday, Jun 27th at the Ascension St. Vincent YMCA (516 Court St) from 5:30-6:30pm
- First Day of Training: Tuesday, July 9th at Wesselman Park (551 N Boeke Ave) at 5:30pm

Alternative Races
5 Miler
- If running 13.1 miles sounds like a little too much, try the five-miler. Participants will line up after the half marathon have started and will runt he first five miles of the marathon.

Kids Half Marathon
- Kids from Kindergarten to 8th grade have the opportunity to run or walk 12 miles prior to race day and track it in a race log. Kids receive a Kids Half Marathon race medal, goody bag and t-shirt. Times will not be recorded

Volunteer
If you don't want to run but still want to be a part of the race, volunteers are always needed. Here are some of the opportunities available: set up and tear down, traffic control, water stations, finish line, entertainment, pace teams, goodie bag stuffers, and training lead.
