Warrick Humane Society Seeks Help After Chemical Fire Disrupts Operations
The Warrick Humane Society is breathing a sigh of relief after last weekend’s chemical fire at a nearby facility forced staff to evacuate animals from the rescue. Thanks to the help of foster families and local boarding facilities, every WHS rescue animal is safe and accounted for.
Animals Safe After Chemical Fire
While the immediate crisis has been addressed, the long-term challenges are just beginning for the folks at WHS. The fire has left the organization facing uncertainty around cleanup, construction delays at their new shelter site located nearby, and mounting financial strain.
The animal rescue receives no government funding and relies solely on donations and proceeds from its Home Away Pet Spa to cover ongoing expenses, including day-to-day operations costs and veterinary care for the animals. With grooming and boarding services currently paused at the pet spa, the organization has lost a critical source of income, all while continuing to provide care and support for the animals in its care.

Financial Strain Without Pet Spa Income
Unfortunately, fundraising efforts have also been disrupted, with supplies inaccessible due to the fire. As a result, WHS is turning to the community for support. The shelter has a Recurring Monthly Donation Program on its website, and they are hoping for donations to provide some stability during this uncertain time. Donors can give any amount, starting at $5 per month, with every contribution helping to offset the loss of income and cover ongoing care costs.
How to Support Warrick Humane Society
Despite the setbacks, WHS is grateful for the overwhelming community support and remains committed to its mission of saving homeless animals in the Tri-State. For now, the best way to help is by donating directly through the Warrick Humane Society website.
Community Support Makes a Difference
“The most important thing is that our staff, volunteers, and rescue animals are safe,” WHS said in a statement on social media. “We’re thankful for this community and its continued support.”
