What Vanderburgh County Special Deputies Will Do

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office, the Special Deputies will provide security at the Civic Center and Vanderburgh County Courts.

The part-time schedule consists of eight-hour shifts from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., two to three days per week.

The positions do not require employees to work weekends or holidays.

There Is an Important Certification Requirement

This isn't an entry-level law enforcement position open to just anyone interested in becoming a deputy.

Applicants must currently hold an Indiana Tier 1 or Tier 2 Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certification.

That makes the opening particularly relevant for already-certified law enforcement professionals who may be retired, working another schedule, or looking for an opportunity to pick up additional hours.
