We Tried the Wild New Food Everyone’s Talking About at Fall Festival – Here’s What I Thought

The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival is notorious for its deep-fried fare, but there are some new items on the Fall Festival Munchie Maps. One of them in particular has everyone talking, so of course, we had to try it!

A Fall Festival Tradition With a Twist

I have been participating in the annual Fall Festival down on Franklin Street since I started my career in Evansville radio in 2006. For 19 years, I have spent time walking the booths, checking out the eats, and, of course, witnessing how everything has evolved and changed over the years.

New Eats On Franklin Street

In years past, we've seen the addition of the Donut Bank Burgers (which are at a new booth this year - Booth #21). We've seen Young & Established join the festival with their Crab Rangoon Nachos and, new for 2025, the Vietnamese Iced Coffee (Booth #122). The It Takes a Village No Kill Rescue booth added Boudin Balls, a New Orleans classic (Booth #108).

The Chili Cheesecake Experiment

Over the last two decades, there have been numerous new additions, but this week I tasted flavors that I would have never thought to pair together. The folks at Bethany Christian (Booth #24) have done the unthinkable. They have paired their West Sider Chili with their Ski Cheesecake to create a new menu item: Chili Cheesecake. Some of them even come with Grippos on top!

Would You Try It?

Yes. Chili and cheesecake, and somehow, some way, the combination defies all logic, and it actually tastes good! Don't ask me how, because I cannot wrap my head around it. I also don't have even the faintest idea how someone would come up with the idea, but they did, they have, and they are! lol Check out the video below to see me, Bobby G from My 105.3 WJLT, and Travis Sams from 99.5 WKDQ try it for the first time.
