Welcome to Kentucky’s Smallest Town: Population 9 (Or So)
Blink and you might miss the smallest town in Kentucky.
Kentucky towns have been a hot topic lately. When it comes to the Commonwealth, we have no shortage of small towns with a few big cities scattered in there too. Everyone has small-town pride nowadays. Recently we have covered many of these towns in articles such as Kentucky city is one of the most mispronounced places in America, the safest town in Kentucky, a Kentucky city named one of the rudest in America, and one Kentucky city is among the best in the nation for pet owners.
To keep up with the theme of Kentucky towns, let's talk about the smallest town in the state. Now, I'm from a small town, and the small-town life is definitely for me. While my hometown isn't the smallest town in the area, it still has that Small Town USA charm to it. That being said, there are a lot of small towns in Kentucky that are much smaller in size and population. Kentucky is home to over 500 cities, towns, and villages. Several of these places, you've probably never even heard of. It's likely though, that you have driven through some of these small towns in Kentucky. It is also possible that you drove by them without even realizing there was a town there at all. And if you come from a small town in Kentucky like me, I'd be willing to bet that it isn't nearly as small as the smallest town in the state.

Welcome to the Smallest City in Kentucky
According to the latest Census figures, and backed up by WorldPopulationReview.com, the smallest city in Kentucky is Tolu. In fact, Tolu is so small, that you can't call it a city or even a town. Tolu is known as a CDP, or Census Designated Place, which is a statistical area that represents an unincorporated community that is well-settled and locally recognized.
Located in Crittenden County, Tolu has a population of only nine people. Nine! That's like one big family. You can bet that everyone in Tolu knows each other's name...heck they might all live together. That's a joke. There are a handful of homes in Tolu, even a fire department. Other than that and a baseball field, there's not much to see.
Have you ever driven through Tolu? Do you know anyone from the smallest town in Kentucky? I'm not going to lie, it sounds like a nice quiet place, and it's not too far from the Ohio River too.
