Evansville, Indiana, is the home of two Guinness World Record Holders, and I bet you'll never be able to guess what they are.

I can remember when I was in elementary school, I was always fascinated by the Guinness Book of World Records that would come out each year. My classmates and I would always read the stories about these amazing things that people have won a world record for. Not only that, but the thing that I remember most about those books was reading up on some of the strange and outlandish things people did just to win a world record. The majority of them still leave me thinking to this day, "Who thinks of this stuff?!"

Anyone who is able to break a Guinness World Record deserves to be commended, no matter how odd or weird it might be. I was curious if we had any world record that have been established in Evansville, Indiana. So, I went to the Guinness World Record website and typed in "Evansville, Indiana." To my surprise, two records popped up. Let's check them out.

Two Guinness World Records Have Been Claimed in Evansville, Indiana

The first Guinness World Record from Evansville came from Habitat for Humanity on July 6th, 2003. They currently hold the world record for the most drink cans collected in eight hours. Kind of random, but still pretty cool to be a world record. Here's what Guinness World Records had to say:

The most aluminium cans collected in eight hours is 152,800 weighing 1,732 kg (3,820 lb) at Bosse Field, Evansville, Indiana, USA on 6 July 2003 at an event organised by Habitat for Humanity of Evansville. The above record is based on the final weight of cans collected, although both the number and weight of cans should be provided in any submission. The event raised $3,360.

The second and most recent world record set in Evansville actually happened last year. Now, this one sounds like it might have hurt somewhere along the way. An Evansville man broke the record for the largest nasallang flesh tunnel. If you're curious what that even means, check it out below:

The largest nasallang flesh tunnel (male) is 2.15 cm (0.84 in), and was achieved by Jason Shoultz (USA), in Evansville, Indiana, USA, on 26 January 2024.

A nasallang piercing goes through the right nostril, the septum and the left nostril. Jason's nasallang flesh tunnel is large enough to easily pass his finger completely through.

30 Bizarre (and Real) Indiana High School Mascots

According to High School.com, there are 682 high schools in Indiana. 555 of those are public schools, while the remaining 127 are private. A majority of those schools have chosen typical mascots to represent them, like eagles, tigers, lions, jets, patriots, and so on and so forth. But, these 30 schools decided to go, well, a different direction.
