How hot and miserable will it be this summer in Indiana? The Old Farmer's Almanac's 2025 Summer Prediction is here, and you might not like it!

After all of the frigid cold temperatures and snow that we here in Indiana received over winter, many (like myself) have been eagerly awaiting summertime. I'd rather it be hot than cold, but I know many who are not a fan of the heat that we can get here. Now, summer doesn't officially start until June 20, 2025, which is the summer solstice. That being said, many in the United States kick off summertime on Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26 this year). That's typically when a lot of pools and waterparks open up for the season to help you cool off. So, we have a little bit of time until summer officially kicks off. That being said, what can we expect from the summertime weather here in Indiana this year?

The Old Farmer's Almanac has released its 2025 Summer Predictions. Editor Sandi Duncan says, “Our extended forecast suggests a very long, hot summer with the heat feeling unrelenting. July may be the month when records are broken nationwide.” That's comforting, right? Let's see exactly what we could expect this summer in Indiana.

Old Farmer's Almanac 2025 Summer Predictions for Indiana

For all of those folks, like myself, who have complained about how cold it's been thus far in Indiana, summer is on the way. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, Indiana is in for a "sultry, thunder-filled" summer. Now, if you're not familiar with what sultry means, basically it's going to be hot and humid. Thunder-filled sounds like we are going to have quite a few stormy summer nights in 2025.

The Old Farmer's Almanac also gives us an insight into what we can expect for the Fourth of July weekend (July 4-7, 2025) and Labor Day Weekend (September 1-3, 2025):

Fourth of July Predictions for Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin:

  • Severe thunderstorms sweep in from the west, perhaps threatening the Fourth of July holiday.

Labor Day Weekend Predictions for Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin:

  • Fair weather for Labor Day.

Now look, these are just predictions. We all know how fickle Mother Nature can be in our neck of the woods. It could be hotter and drier than normal, or it could be colder and wetter than we typically see in the summertime. Either way, soak in as much fun this summer while you can because one thing is certain...it will fly by!
