When Will the 2025 Mosquito Season in Indiana End?
Do you still have a bad mosquito problem outside your home? Is there hope that mosquito season will end soon in Indiana?
I don't know about you, but I always have a BAD mosquito problem in my yard. I can't even walk outside for two minutes without having to swat those pests away. It's a nuisance that nobody wants to deal with. If you're like me, you have probably tried spraying your yard, burning citronella candles, or planting lemongrass or peppermint plants in your yard to help keep the mosquitoes away. Somehow, it seems that they are all only so effective. We all dread being outside and swatting the mosquitoes away.

Why Are Mosquitoes So Active in Indiana?
According to Terminix:
Mosquitoes thrive under certain conditions, and these help dictate when mosquitoes are active or non-active:
- Higher temperatures - Mosquitoes typically become active around 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and thrive at temperatures over 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Humidity - Moist, humid environments are prime breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
- Warm areas with heavy rainfall - A perfect storm of temperature and humidity can result in increased mosquito populations and activity.
Especially for us here in southern Indiana, the majority of our summer has been filled with days well over 70 degrees. On top of that, we are known for having a lot of humidity, which you can thank in part to the corn sweat. Recently, we haven't seen much rain, but other conditions have been favorable for mosquitoes, so they are still out in abundance. So, this begs the question: when will mosquito season in Indiana end in 2025?
When is Mosquito Season in Indiana?
Typically, mosquito season in Indiana runs from April through September. That's when the temperature and conditions will be just right. We are over halfway through September, and the heat has not gone away. That being said, temperatures (at least in southern Indiana) are expected to start getting lower next week. Maybe by the end of September, we will have cooler temperatures to start to wipe out those pests.
