Castle Graduate and Granddaughter of MLB Player is Playing in the Women’s College World Series
The Legend Of The Lis Family
If you've never heard of Joe Lis Senior or Junior, then maybe you've heard of Joe Lis Baseball School in Evansville. Anyone who has been around American Legion baseball knows the legendary stories of the Joe Lis teams. When I was in high school, the best baseball players I knew were going here for lessons, and with good reason. Lis Senior played eight seasons in Major League Baseball, while Lis Junior played Triple-A with Toronto and Atlanta. Lis Senior started his baseball school back in 1991, and they're still helping develop some of the best players in the game, right here in the tri-state. One player in particular, and their favorite, if I had to guess, would be Jackie Lis, the daughter of Joe Lis Junior and Lana Lis of Newburgh.
Who Is Jackie Lis?
Jackie graduated from Castle High School, where she received numerous honors for her game, including multiple conference and all-state accolades, as well as being named the 2021 Courier & Press All-Metro Player of the Year. After graduating, Jackie originally played for Southern Illinois University before transferring to Texas Tech as a utility player, where she is finishing her senior season in style! Leading up to her final year, Lis has been decorated with endless conference honors, some national recognition, and academic excellence honors. She has made countless impactful plays throughout the tournament, leading the Red Raiders to the Finals of the Women's College World Series. However, this will not be an easy task. Not only do you have the nerves of a championship and everything that comes with that, but this will be a final full of angst, as the Red Raiders take on their truest rivals in the Texas Longhorns. Let's take a look at some of her highlights.
