Did you know that Southern Indiana is home to a ski resort?  It's true! Complete with skiing, snowboarding, and tubing!

Hit the Slopes

Cold weather and freezing temps are something that many of us in the Tri-State are not particularly fond of.  However, there's one place in Southern Indiana that loves the winter season, especially when it actually feels like winter!

Due to our lack of mountains, Indiana is not exactly known for being a premier skiing destination, but located just up the road from the Tri-State is the perfect place to go skiing, snowboarding, or tubing during the winter months. Located in Paoli, Indiana is Paoli Peaks a ski resort.  Paoli Peaks opens every winter for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing, and is a tradition for many Hoosiers.

Wintertime Fun

Over the past few years, winter in Southern Indiana has been fairly mild.  Minus a few cold snaps, it's been a long time since our area has seen a significant snowfall.   During the warmer winters of the past few years, Paoli Peaks seasons were significantly shorter.  However, they very much welcome the winter weather we are having now because it is setting the foundation for a great 2025 season for skiing in our area.

I went to Paoli Peaks one time when I was about 13 or maybe 14, and I quickly learned that skiing was not for me. Tubing, however, sounds like fun that's within my skillset!

Open This Weekend

Paoli Peaks closed last weekend due to the winter storm that came through and brought with it a dangerous amount of ice, and only a little bit of snow.   However, Friday's snow is making the perfect foundation for Paoli Peaks to have a great season.

Paoli Peaks took to Facebook to announce that they would be open for tubing, skiing, and snowboarding this weekend.

We’re thrilled to announce that , , , and tubing will reopen on Friday, January 10, at 3 PM! This winter storm is laying the perfect foundation for an incredible season, and we can’t wait to see you back on the slopes!

Keep an eye on Paoli Peaks Facebook page to stay up to date with their schedule this winter.  If you want to take the trip to Paoli (about an hour and 45 minutes from Evansville) to enjoy the winter weather, you can find all of the information and things you need to know on Paoli Peaks' website, here.
