Man's Best Friend
There's a reason dogs are called "man's best friend." They are loyal companions and bring joy to many of us. If you've ever had a dog then you know that they are sweet creatures who are often loyal to a fault. I think that's why when we hear stories of animal abuse, it's unfathomable that someone could do that to an innocent creature. I've always said that I believe all dogs deserve a good home, but not every person deserves a dog. This is one of those times, where this person does not deserve the love of a dog.
Indiana State Police Rescue Dog After Perilous Ride
Recently a post on Facebook went viral after the Indiana State Police Lowell Post shared the story of a dog they rescued. This dog was first spotted in an unsecured kennel on an open trailer being pulled by an SUV. The dog was in a wire crate and completely exposed to the elements, it was 26 degrees outside, and the SUV was traveling at very high speeds. This is an extremely dangerous situation for the animal. A good samaritan happened to see the situation and contact 911, but it seems they were not able to locate the SUV or dog at the time.
According to the press release from Indiana State Police Lowell Post, a reporter sent the Facebook post about the dog to the Indiana State Police Lowell post. A detective immediately initiated an investigation and began to locate the person responsible and the dog in question.
Through his efforts, he located the canine at a residence in Gary, IN. The dog appeared to have been abandoned near a residence where the owner of the suspect vehicle had previously resided. With the assistance of an ISP K9 handler who was off duty but in the area, they were able to gain the dog’s trust and secure the dog. A neighbor identified the dog, and the search for the owner continued through the afternoon. Later in the evening, the owner was identified and interviewed by the detective.

Charges Submitted and Dog is Safe and Warm
Charges have been submitted on the owner of the dog, but they haven't been approved yet to arrest the owner. Hopefully, soon, justice will be served. In the meantime, the dog is in a foster home, warm, safe, and receiving plenty of attention. Keep an eye on the Indiana State Police Lowell Post Facebook page, as they have been sharing updates on the situation there.
