America’s Favorite Fast Food Chain Is Finally Coming to Indiana
A fast food chain that has been around for over six decades is finally making its way to Indiana, with several new locations planned for the Hoosier State.
When it comes to the United States, there is certainly no shortage of fast food options. Whether you're in the mood for burgers, fried chicken, pizza, or tacos, there are more than a handful of places you could go for each. However, believe it or not, Indiana is still missing some national favorites. As for me, I'd love to see a Bojangles make its way to the Hoosier State. For others, though, it's Del Taco.
America's Favorite Fast-Food Chain
In 2024, USA Today compiled a list of America's favorite fast food chains, and coming in at No. 1 was a California-based chain known as Del Taco. Ed Hackbarth and David Jameson opened the first Del Taco in Yermo, Calif., in 1964. By the late 1970s, the chain had expanded to 100 locations, and today there are around 600 across 17 states. Del Taco serves tacos (obviously), burritos, quesadillas, and even burgers and fries. Currently, there are no Del Taco locations in Indiana, but that's about to change.

Del Taco is Coming to Indiana
According to Fox 59, Del Taco has now set its sights on the Hoosier State. The chain announced a development agreement with a new franchise group, with plans to open 10 new locations across central Indiana. The target areas include Greenwood, Plainfield, and Avon in the Indianapolis metropolitan area, as well as Bloomington, Bedford, and Columbus to the south. Currently, the closest Del Taco locations are in Michigan and Ohio.
“We are thrilled to welcome this dynamic group of entrepreneurs to the Del Taco family,” said Van Ingram, vice president, franchise development. “Their passion for the brand and business acumen are exactly what we look for when bringing on a new franchisee. We are confident that they will be successful in bringing the fresh ingredients and bold flavors of Del Taco to the Indianapolis community.”
