Farmer’s Almanac Warns Illinois of ‘Unsettled’ Spring After April
If Farmer's Almanac is right, Illinois could be in for a very interesting Spring as the time around Easter is predicted to be nice, but the rest of the season will be 'unsettled'.
There is good news and bad news to be had if you're an Illinoisan that depends on the Farmer's Almanac for your long-range weather predictions. Their new outlook for Spring 2025 includes a promising time around the middle of April, but there is one very concerning word at the end of their forecast.
They mention trouble twice. Here's their specific forecast for Illinois for Easter around April 20, 2025:
"Fair for Easter, then unsettled."
That word reappears when they talk about the Memorial Day weekend at the end of May:
"Unsettled weather spreads into Ohio Valley, unfortunately dampening Memorial Day weekend. Indy-500 could be wet."
Here's why the word "unsettled" is a bit troubling for Illinois. In 2024, Illinois had the 4th most tornadoes in America. In meteorological terms, mammatus clouds are a sign of instability in the atmosphere and they're often seen in tornadic systems. Is this a cryptic way for Farmer's Almanac to subtly predict another stormy Spring for Illinois? We won't have to wait long to find out.
Batten down the hatches, Illinois. Spring could get interesting.
